Hadn’t been to Hamtramck for the paczki party in years, but found myself at Whiskey in a Jar this year. Thought I would go to several places, but this was so good that we just stayed there. What a great event they had with homemade pierogi and golabki that will keep me coming back again and again. Met some great new people from all over the State of Michigan. Many kudos to the owner “Tom” who was on-site greeting patrons and making everyone feel Polish for a day!

Steve Shaya doesn’t order the salt; The police department does. (which has been a problem in the past due to unnecessary salting.)

In any reputable city, such action in addition to obvious over billing the city will warrant immediate termination. Unless there are “certain” city official whose interests are in maintaining the “Status Quo”.

Steve Shaya is great.
He is salting the entire city today, even though the snow accumulation is less than 1″ and the temperature is above freezing.
Can you be more cautious over the conditions of our city streets than this?.
Way to go Steve.
Thanks God we have enough money in our city for these things.

Did anybody see the Chrysler Dodge Ad during the Super Bowl? 3.5 minutes teling us we are now in the second half of the game. They talk about Detroit on hard times but it was filmed in New Orleans? Why was Eastwood in the dark?

I spoke with Steve Shaya about the lights, and both he and DTE are aware of the problems. He doesn’t know for sure, but the outages mentioned here may be related to an upgrade to a more energy-efficient light, sodium somethingorother.
