  1. I was soooo stoked to come. There’s a human relations commission roundtable at the same time. :(

  2. This is very cool. I can’t wait to read all about it on the site… Best of luck.

  3. I’m really looking forward to dinner tonight.

Sorry you can’t make it, Mike. At least 3 people who planned on coming to dinner tonight will be hanging out with you. We absolutely plan to make this a monthly thing, so hopefully you can make it next time.

  4. I’d like to thank everyone who had dinner with us tonight. I had a great time and discovered the wonder of Polonia’s breaded pork chops. I can’t believe I’d never tried them before.

We decided that next month, March 2, we will have dinner at Gandhi restaurant, so please mark your calendars!

  5. To think that this was all started because Hillary didn’t want to cook a meal on some Mondays… ;-)
Regardless as to what the inspiration was, I am thankful to Hillary for initiating this once a month gathering. The name of the group that we came up with was:”The 1st Monday Club”. (Don’t know if anyone thinks we need to put the word “Supper” or “Dinner” in there or not.)

I enjoyed meeting with our neighbors and sharing some good food and laughs.

  6. A splendid time was had by all! It was a pleasure to meet every one who attended. I’m with Hillary on this one If you have not tried Polonia’s breaded pork chops YOU MUST!!!
I am looking forward to the next event.

    Dziekuje Polonia!!

  7. I’m all about the pork chops there! Pounded thin, breaded nicely, and fried quickly so that they remain moist — it’s a beautiful thing. I like mine with a little wedge of lemon.

However, since we were trying new things (and it was Feb. 2), I had the fresh Polish sausage (“ground hog”). Very nice! But when we return, I will also return to the porkchops. So many people in my family like them, when we come in, the staff calls us the Pork Chop Family — not flattering but accurate.

We should also note that the veggies have been switched from canned to what looks like a frozen California blend. They were seasoned when they came to the table, no salt needed on my plate.

Next time, I move that we save room for dessert!

(Unofficial motto of the First Monday Club: “We’ll eat with anyone.” And we’ll have a darned good time doing it!)

  8. There are a few nice pictures, still on the camera. I don’t know how to upload photos to our server in bulk, so we will unfortunately have to wait until Steve is home from band practice later tonight. Sorry for the delay!

I ate my leftover pork chop in front of the refrigerator this morning at about 4 a.m..

  9. We ate our leftovers before the night was over. :) I could have gone a little hotter with the horseradish; I like it when it shoots up the back of my neck and makes the top of my head tingle.

TIA for the pix, but no rush! Hope your sister has safe travels.

  10. Pork chops: the breakfast of Hamtramck Champions!

I hate to admit this but, my leftovers never got to see the light of day.
    They were schnitzeltastic!

  11. Just wondering if you were still doing the Dinner Club? Haven’t seen any posts on this lately?

  12. Yes, but I’ve only been posting the notices to the Facebook group.

We’ve been meeting on days other than the first Monday too. I’ll try to get it together better this month!
