In 1959, a group of Hamtramck High School graduates met to rekindle their friendships from high school. At this meeting it was proposed that this group should continue to meet, to form a common bond of fellowship, and keep the spirit of Hamtramck High School athletics alive. This group became known as the Hamtramck High Alumni Varsity Club, (H.H.A.V.C.).
From these meetings The Hamtramck High Alumni Varsity Club Scholarship Fund was formed. It is registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service as a 501-C3 non-profit organization, and as a Charitable Trust with the State of Michigan Office of Attorney General.
Since 1961, this group has awarded over $80,000.00 (eighty thousand dollars) to deserving Hamtramck High School Scholar Athletes.
We are in need of new membership to continue this great tradition.
