Forest Island Recycling was granted a host permit for 3300 Denton. Forest Island will recycle building materials at the site. Previously, they had intended to occupy a property on Joseph Campau, but reconsidered when neighbors voiced concerns about truck traffic. Their new location on Denton is in an entirely industrial area, next to William Dickerson Detention Facility
Council passed a resolution that they be represented at talks with Wayne County regarding non-payment of obligations under the jail agreement.
Councilman Scott Klein motioned that the City of Hamtramck be removed from any eminent domain lawsuits, stating “if you don’t want to sell your property, there is no fair value”. I strongly support this measure. The motion was tabled until Monday.
