Hillary and I are looking at these Motor City Music Conference events and trying to figure out how much it would cost to go. Here’s their “badge” pricing structure in brief:
$40 Wristband: Gets you in shows but “badgeholders” get let in first. Also gets you into trade show at Cobo, whoopee.
$75 Student Rate Platinum Music badge: Admission to all events if you have a valid Student ID during check in.
$60 Gold Music badge: Admission to panels and Tradeshow but doesn’t include shows. Basically trade show, no bands.
$100 Platinum Music badge: Admission to all events
including shows, panels, workshops, trade show, and swag.
I’m looking at eighty dollars for two wristbands that won’t necessarily get us into any of the shows we might want to see. Some of the venues are advertising their nightly cover charges, some aren’t. May have to pass on this one.
Check this out! http://www.mediarica.com/. This site gave me samples of all the bands at MC2, so I can choose which venues to attend. Since Im new to iTunes and iPodder, it was great to find a site that walked me through it. Very cool!!
That is pretty cool. In fact, I think it’s the coolest thing about the conference so far.
SXSW is was not. There are lots of post mortums online
…this one with comments assures me you could have gotten into any show you wanted, but you’d be the only two suckers who paid.

er: “SxSw IT was not.” +
“mortems”
I have to wonder how many bands bailed out. I can’t believe there was any kind of audience for many of these shows.
Thx for the update Leighton!
I know Blanche and Easy Action and the Volebeats never showed to their headlining slots.
What a mess. It was too confusing for me to figure out which bands were playing where.
It seems like when venues are all spread out things become unmanagable.
