I moved from Michigan to Tennessee in 1994, and then on to Atlanta, GA. One of the very few things I miss after growing up and spending the majority of my life in Michigan…is a Paczki on Fat Tuesday! They don’t have them here in Georgia…DY
I moved from Detroit 9 years ago and I haven’t had a packzi since then. Unfortunately I have not found a Polish Bakery here in Georgia. I really miss Packzi DAY !
I moved to Michigan when I was twelve (over sixty years ago) and have had many polish friends — AND NO ONE HAS EVER TOLD ME ABOUT PACZKIES BEFORE!
I discovered them, on my own, last year at a store on Fat Tuesday. I though I had died and gone to heaven! (I ATE THE WHOLE DOZEN MYSELF!)
I was very disappointed to discover that the store only sold them on Fat Tuesday. I have been waiting for a whole year for Fat Tuesday to come around again!
Meantime, I am a cook, and have been researching how to make them so that I can enjoy them all year around!
(Hope I don’t go to hell for that?)
(CORRECTION: Dang Computers!)

There were several paczki recipes in the latest issue of the Hamtramck Citizen. You can probably still snag a copy.
I am fairly certain that you can buy them in Hamtramck at other times of the year if you call ahead. Also, if you can eat an entire box of them, you might want to consider entering the paczki eating contest at the Knights of Columbus at noon on Fat Tuesday.
I moved from Warren, MI fourteen years ago. They don’t know about paczki here in North Carolina. This is one day of the year when I really really feel homesick for Michigan.
I moved out of Michigan 9 years ago and have been amazed at the lack of Paczkis down here in Georgia. What other states have them besides Michigan?
Polish immigrants mainly settled in Chicago, Detroit/Hamtramck, Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Luzerne County Pennsylvania.
Western and Central Pennsylvania in general are Polish immigrant strongholds; and upstate New York, especially the Buffalo area, is one of the main areas of settlement, right up there with Chicago and Detroit. Buffalo doesn’t do pączki day the way we do down here, but it does celebrate Dyngus day–Easter Monday(also known as Wet Monday or śmigus Dyngus) big time: http://www.dyngusdaybuffalo.com/

Are there recipes for paczki on here?
No, we don’t have any recipes.
The Detroit Free Press ran the recipe for Theresa Witkowski’s winning Pączki recipe.

Hamtramck ought to celebrate Dyngus Day.
