  1. What !! Eric Tungate, the one behind all those failed projects, lofts on Joseph Campau, Aldi in Shoppers World.. He has been proven to be a failure as economic development director…Why are they bringing him back now? Was he fired by Detroit?

  2. I heard that he was let go from two different jobs since his time here, MEDC and DEGC. They must be going through a list of out-of-work cronies, looking for people who will reappoint Allen Brothers.

  3. If two city managers think Allen brothers are not best for the city. Why does the council want to keep them?
Do Allen Brothers have some dirt dug up on the mayor and the council?

  4. This city and its leaders are a joke and an embarrassment. Why do we always elect people with no history of leadership? Unless you count scheduling barmaids and ordering beer. The current and past union leaders have run circles around these people for years and its them and only them that will get this city out of this mess..Again! This current council allows millions of dollars to be paid to attorneys yet cant figure out a way to pay its employees. Even better, Jankowski wants to appoint one of these million dollar men to city manager. Last one out don’t worry about turning out the lights because Detroit will own them.

  5. Cathie replied to the clerk’s meeting notification list with the following:

HELLO everyone…….in regards to our scheduled meeting tomorrow:
In searching for a solution for the situation we are now facing, I have discovered that the MML currently has a FREE service available to ALL member communities. It is called the INTERIM MANAGERS LIST. These are retired city managers with 20 to 30 years experience, looking to fill positions in cities (like ours) SHORT TERM. They have no desire to take on a permanent position (I gather, due to their retirement) but are happy to fill in SHORT TERM for the purpose of providing stability at the city hall, re-assurance to all employees, and carry us through whatever we need (including assistance in the search for a permanent city manager) & to facilitate a smooth transition to our next choice of manager. At this point in time, knowing very well Mr. Tungate’s background, and having served on the DDA with him for approx. 4-5 years, I feel that his qualifications/experience fall short of what is considered adequate qualifications for this position PER CHARTER. I can appreciate the suggestion, however I WILL BE contacting MML first thing tomorrow morning to get more information regarding this program…….unless someone else is familiar with this FREE SERVICE, I will keep in close contact…….thank-you, cathie

Maybe there’s hope for us yet.

  6. Under the city charter, Tungate is ineligible for this appointment.

    Section 9-18.12.b

    (b) Acting City Manager. The city manager shall, by letter filed with the city clerk, designate, subject to approval by resolution of city council, an administrative employee of the City of Hamtramck to exercise the powers and perform the duties of city manager during his temporary absence, disability, or vacancy in office. During such absence, disability, or vacancy, council may revoke such designation at any time and appoint another acting city manager to serve until the city manager shall return, or his disability shall have ceased or, a new city manager shall have been appointed.

  7. Really? Appoint Eric Tungate as City Manager? You have got to be kidding me! When he worked for the city before he was nothing more than a glorified cruise director whose answer for every problem was to spend money. He was to good to assist the small businesses. He had absolutely no visibility in the community, shut his phone off at 5:00 and left the city. All you have to do is look at his self serving history and realize he’s a puppet for certain people.
